On World Water Day, we thought we’d take a look at an aquatic themed inspiration of the week.

All of these designers took inspiration from the Japanese artist, Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai created the famous woodblock print of a wave called, The Great Wave off Kanagawa. It was first published between 1829-1833 and is still an iconic image to this day.

Visual identity for SURGE by Maria Grønlund

This logo design takes inspiration from the Japanese artist Hokusai and showcases the use of both the golden ratio and the golden spiral.

Aditya Tri – OKINAMI – Typeface

Aditya Tri was inspired by the Hokusai’s Wave to make this illustrative typeface. He used the Garamond as the base-font for the Illustrations, as he felt that captured the same elegance of the original wave.
